You will be the person who they come to at their most vulnerable and they will trust you completely to help them be healthy once more. Caring for another human being is a rewarding job and it can make you feel happy every single day.

You’re a People Person

If you love people and enjoy meeting new faces every single day, a career in a hospital can do this for you. Every single day will see you faced with new people and you will get to hear many different stories. If you love to chat then this type of job is ideal, because it is all about understanding your patients and building a positive relationship with them.

You Have a Strong Stomach

If you are a strong person and you are able to cope with situations like this then you could be perfect for the job.

The Human Body Fascinates You

As humans, we are a curious race, we are innately drawn to knowledge and we spend our whole lives trying to make sense of the world around us. If you are fascinated by the science of the human body and how it works, a medical career is ideal for you. You will be able to learn how the body works and what makes it tick, as well as find ways to fix the body when it is wounded and diseased. Every day will give you a new piece of knowledge and you will love it.

You Never Want to Stop Learning

Following on from the last point, you will never stop learning when you enter the medical industry. Whether you are a nurse, midwife, doctor or administrator, there will always be more to learn. Good piece Daniela but I feel the need to point out that just because you have one or more of these features, does mean you’ll do well or even enjoy this sector once you get into it.

I second that Lily. I moved from a business role to the care sector and within a year knew I had made the biggest mistake. Unpaid and undervalued it is heart-wrenching seeing up close how much funding and cuts to the health sector impact patient care.

Must disagree slightly with these comments. Plainly put, some of us are cut out for this path while others just aren’t. If you truly care you will want to make a change. You can’t make a difference when you aren’t personally involved in the system.

A hot topic it would seem. Thanks for your comments. I too feel that this is a sector only suited to certain personality types. It’s not the easiest of roles.
